Techniques for the Best Education
Education is one of the most important thing to instill
in a child. However, one cannot force someone to want to learn more about subjects
they may not be interested in. It is vital to the future that we not only instill
an education, but we must also form a love for the pursuit of knowledge. Therefore,
we must make the act of learning enjoyable from the earliest interaction with
school. This means that one must study and try to improve the methods of
teaching each age groups of children. This was very important to Maria
Montessori, a progressive educator from the late 1800s and early 1900s. (1) She
believed that if you wish to instill a love for learning you must study the past
efforts and create newer and better methods of teaching that will engage even the
most excitable children. One of the things that Montessori studied was the
effect of school furniture on students. (2) Through her research, she
discovered that the furniture used by the schools were physically harmful to
the students. She states in her writings the need for more comfortable seating is
necessary for a good education. If a person is to physically harm themselves then,
in the long run, they will not like the pursuit of education. (3) Freedom is
another big factor that affects a person's will to learn. If a person is free to
choose their education then they will more than likely appreciate the product
more.

Another person that studied the various effects on
education is John Dewey. (4) In Dewey’s studies, he focused more on the process
of thinking instead of gauging everyone’s intelligence on something like standardized
testing. (5) In order for a student to use a “thinking in education” the
educator must pull from the students’ pervious experience while still challenging
the students with new information. While this may seem very difficult and tedious
on the part of the educational system, it has proven to produce students that
are productive to society and go on to create new and better products and
policies. (6) The use of “thinking in education” is, in the eyes of Dewey, the most
effective process of education. The most important use of education is to create
imagination and intelligence in the minds of the next generation.
